''There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, so when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could.'' Avengers Assemble...more like men with amazing arms and equally amazing pecs all crammed together in tight suits for a running time of 143 minutes. 143 minutes that was, ladies and gentlemen, in one word...epic.
Scripted and directed by Joss Whedon, also known as the One True God, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. The Avengers Initiative, building through Iron Man 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, is all systems go.
An extraordinary team gathered by S.H.I.E.L.D agent Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and his right hand man Agent Coulson i.e Phil (Clark Gregg). An extraordinary team consisting of Iron Man, the billionaire playboy Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jnr.). Ultimate genetically engineered super-soldier Steve Rogers, Captain America (Chris Evans). Norse God of Thunder, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and The Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).

Formed to stop the threat of Thor's adopted evil brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), last seen whispering sweet nothings into a Gamma-ray scientist's ear in his quest for world domination using the powerful Tessarect. A powerful blue-light illuminating cube with the power to destroy all that we know and hold dear by unleashing a race of all-powerful alien creatures from another plane of existence right at our doorstep.
Once our team unite, egos fly in a hilarious witty exchange with most laughs caused by the Hulk near the films close.  The friendliest, most loveable Hulk I have ever seen. So much so I want one of my very own. Initial clashing aside, the gang put their grievances to rest after tragedy strikes to take Loki and his army down in a whirlwind of kick assness, great quotes and of course...'Hulk smash.'

By now we love every single one of these characters. The actors have worked extremely hard in bringing the characters to life from the previous films lending to the organic development of their overall interaction with one another as a newly manufactured unit. A lot was riding on Avengers Assemble and fortunately it has more than paid off. Credit going to the elevating script as a major strength followed swiftly by the true meaning of action-packed from the word go.
All in all, Joss Whedon's Avengers Assemble is by far Marvel's top movie to date. Counting down the days for the reunion. Until then, onwards for Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises.
