The glamorous and feisty fashion house of Nor Lisa launched her Autumn/Winter collection last night as designer Lisa McCabe sent twenty sensational dresses and scarves down the marble paved runway in an intimate catwalk event at the ethnically decorated Cafe Vaudeville. Rich and luxurious plastered in Parisian gold and Middle-Eastern fabrics, ornaments and furniture, Vaudeville was the perfect setting for Nor Lisa's Autumn/Winter début as seven dazzling models torpedoed their way through the stunning looks on offer. Five of which were one-off creations, including the closing number. A gold and black statement dress worn by Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model, Diona Doherty. The black lace top contrasting effortlessly alongside the shimmering golden layered eloquent skirt detailing. Topped off by an assortment of jewel embellished features sitting perfectly amongst a Voguesque high-bun. Diona even rocked a tribal trend with sharp feathers flowing from the phenomenal gown creating a powerful conclusion to the evening's proceedings.
Also on offer were trademark printed scarves in an array of sea blues, bottle greens and fire reds with an interesting take on Autumn/Winter patterns including antler, scales and dragonfly designs. Designs all expanded upon throughout the show as dress after dress powered down the runway to the likes of Adele's somber Turning Tables, Beyonce's empowering Ring the Alarm and Lana Del Rey's sultry Blue Jeans. Not to mention the infamous Nor Lisa Spitfire creations offered in a pale blue and a light green take modelled on the catwalk paired with a simple beige slip. Of course the silk woven scarves were not the only designs to sport the signature Spitfire of Nor Lisa. A stunning sixties inspired chocolate brown and royal blue full length gown becoming my personal favourite.
Whilst the red and blue lace formal frocks complete with stunning lace sleeves felt like something straight out of an Oscars Red Carpet event. Majestic, colourful and sophisticated all in one go. As for the added touches here and there, hair by Lee Stinton was a mix of wild, crazy, eccentric and simple in all the right places lending a hit of manic to the table. Perfect for the ethnic/tribal take matched perfectly by creative and inspired make-up from Nuala Campbell which more than enhanced the looks on offer. The luxury and high-end element enhanced further by gold oversized pearls, black and gold cuffs, blue gemstone necklaces and of course the mighty jewel embellished and feathered fascinator from Melanie Bond Jewellery. Last night, the House of Nor Lisa marked its one year Anniversary and from the arrival of her eclectic Autumn/Winter line it is safe to say it will certainly not be her last.
